Throughout our organization, The Chesterwye Center is committed to person-centered support for each and every member of our disability community.

As an organization, we promote the individual path suggested by the unique gifts, preferences, and needs of each person they support, and to walk in partnership with the person, and those who are significant to them, toward a life of opportunity, well-being, freedom, and contribution.

Our Values Statement:

Person-Centered Supports: Our first allegiance is to the people we support, all other activities and functions we perform flow from this allegiance.

Promoting Physical and Emotional Well-Being: We promote the emotional, physical, and personal well-being of the people we support. We encourage and recognize the autonomy of those receiving support while being attentive and energetic in reducing the risk of harm.

Integrity and Responsibility: We support the mission and vitality of our industry to assist people in leading self-directed lives and to foster a spirit of partnership with the people we support, other professionals, and our community.
Confidentiality: We commit to safeguarding and respecting the confidentiality and privacy of the people we support.

Justice, Fairness and Equity: We affirm that human rights as well as the civil rights and responsibilities of the people we support. We promote and practice justice, fairness, and equity for the people we support and the community as a whole.

Relationships: We assist the people we serve in developing and maintaining relationships with friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

Self-Determination: We support the people we assist to direct the course of their own lives.

Advocacy: We advocate with the people we support for justice, inclusion, and full community participation. We support those we support to speak for themselves in all matters and offer our assistance when needed. We work to represent the best interests of people who cannot speak for themselves by partnering with the individual and their support team to gather information and find alternative means of expression.

We advocate that those who victimize people with disabilities must be held accountable.

Quality Enhancement & Preventing Abuse

The Chesterwye Center takes abuse and neglect seriously. The organization has in place series of quality enhancement measures.

Management and oversight related to how our services are delivered are closely monitored. We follow all reporting guideline to Office of Healthcare Quality at State of Maryland Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA).
