Michael Yates

Chief Executive Officer

Michael Yates serves as Chief Executive Officer of Chesterwye Center, bringing experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maryland and Virginia. He holds a Master of Human Services Administration from Coppin State University.

Michael began his career in 2009 as a Direct Support Professional and advanced through leadership roles as Program Manager, Regional Manager, and Program Director. His experience spans day and residential services, with a focus on quality care, staff development, and effective program operations.

Since joining Chesterwye Center in the fall of 2023, Michael has focused on building a welcoming organization where people receive the support they need to make choices, pursue their goals, and lead meaningful lives. His vision is for Chesterwye to be a place people look forward to attending, families trust, and staff are proud to work.

Michael values strong partnerships with people served, families, staff, and the broader community. Through these relationships, he works to expand opportunities for community integration with meaningful connections and safe, comfortable living for the people Chesterwye supports in Queen Anne’s County.
