On June 5th 2025 the Ewing home was officially completed. The project was funded by a capital grant from the Maryland Department of Health – DDA agency, and by a matching grant from the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners. Additional needs were funded by the Chesterwye Foundation and the generous contribution of community donors.

The Ewing home was vacant for several years and in need of significant improvement, some of which we were not able to discover until renovation began. Improvements included significant structural repairs, crawl space moisture remediation, new roof, siding, windows, doors, kitchen, interior finished. The home will feature wheelchair accessible bathrooms and an open plan living. New ramps and sidewalks were also added.

The house will be home to four individuals with developmental disabilities living independently through 24/7 Chesterwye Center DSP support.

With the completion of the Ewing home, work will soon begin on the Nash Home, also located in Grasonville. It is anticipated that work on the Nash home will be completed later in 2025.

Other capital improvement initiatives include the installation of back-up power generators at each residential home. Also, planning is underway to pursue improvements to the Ringgold Home, also located in Grasonville. The Chesterwye Center anticipates undertaking fundraising efforts for the Ringgold home in the coming months.
