Chesterwye Center was honored to be recognized at the February 25th, 2025 QAC Commissioner’s meeting as their February Character Counts Business Spotlight! Chesterwye Center was spotlighted as a business in our community representing RESPECT for the month of February.
Each month, QAC Commissioners recognize a local business, non-profit, or individual for upholding one (or more) of the Six Pillars in our communities as a part of their monthly “Commissioner’s Spotlight”. The Chesterwye Center was chosen for the February spotlight in recognition of the work of the center - ensuring everyone is treated with respect and dignity.
In addition to the Commissioner’s Spotlight, The Chesterwye Center will be joining the County’s community of “Businesses of Character”, supporting, sharing, and using the Six Pillars among our team, clients, and community relationships.
Founded in 1967 by Bobby Ann Nash, Chesterwye was created to address the lack of services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Queen Anne’s County. Inspired by her own son’s needs, she brought the community together to establish a center that continues to provide essential services today.
Chesterwye supports individuals through Day and Residential Services, employment coaching, transition programs for high school students, and transportation services, helping them live with dignity and independence. Each day, we serve individuals in our community to ensure they have the resources they need to thrive.
"For more than five decades, Chesterwye Center has been a cornerstone of respect and inclusion, ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities are valued members of our community. Their work continues to make a lasting impact, and their commitment to this pillar of character is evident in everything they do."
